The Sounds of Elizabethan Garden
FRI & SAT, NOVEMBER 13 & 14, 2020 at 8 pm
Artistic Direction by Paul Jenkins & Alison Melville
We kick off the season strolling through the elaborate gardens of Elizabethan England. Places of refuge, pleasure, artfulness, and festivity, spectacular country estates were hosts to Queen Elizabeth I during her lavish summertime progresses, in which music, poetry, and dance featured extravagantly. Drawing inspiration from our popular album All in a Garden Green, join us for an evening of ballads, madrigals, and rollicking dance tunes by Dowland, Byrd, Ravenscroft, and their contemporaries.
