“Toronto should count its blessings that it has an ensemble like the Consort to expose it to the masterpieces of Early Music. From soloists to musicians to conductor David Fallis, this was early music-making at its very best.” -- Toronto Star

The Toronto Season: Step Into Another World

Early Music is a world like no other. The exotic instrumental colours, the purity of the voices, the honest and haunting emotions of the music combine and recombine to create endless delights. This year we sample some of the lusty English repertoire for the so-called "broken consort" with lute, bandora, cittern, gamba, flute and violin; we explore the riches of Spanish and Latin American Christmas music, spiced with funky rhythms and sensuous melodies; we welcome Constantinople who take us to the worlds of Persian and Armenian music; we savour the glorious majesty of a 17th-century mass for San Marco in Venice filled to the rafters with voices, strings, brass and keyboards; and the sonorous purity of Josquin's music will be featured in our program centred on the medieval labyrinth.

Please join us in this other world!
